Free Webinar - Creating Safe Spaces: The scale of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and misogyny

At The Stay Safe Global Charitable Trust, we are proud to be delivering a vital upcoming Time2Learn webinar through UK Coaching, tackling one of the most pressing and overlooked challenges in coaching today:

🗓️ Creating Safe Spaces: The scale of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and misogyny

🕐 Friday 1 August, 12:00–1:00pm (BST)

🎓 Free to attend | Earns 0.5 CIMSPA CPD points

This live, virtual session is open to all coaches, coach developers, safeguarding leads, and support staff working across sport and physical activity. It offers practical tools to understand harm, respond appropriately, and build safer, more inclusive environments - on and off the field.

Delivered Through UK Coaching’s Time2Learn Series

This important session is delivered through UK Coaching, the UK’s leading organisation for coach development and education.

UK Coaching supports the nation’s coaching workforce — from grassroots volunteers to professional coaches — by providing high-quality training, resources, and support that equip coaches to inspire and protect those they work with.

Their Time2Learn series offers free monthly webinars that bring expert-led insight and practical strategies to coaches across all sports and activity levels. Each session is CIMSPA CPD-accredited and designed to make a real difference to your everyday practice.

Why This Session Matters

Misogyny. Sexual violence. Domestic abuse. These issues aren’t distant or abstract - they show up in the lives of people we coach, teach, and support. Often quietly. Often unspoken.

Many coaches want to help, but don’t always know how — or feel confident enough to act. This webinar offers a supportive, judgement-free space to learn:

  • How these issues show up in coaching environments
  • What a trauma-informed approach looks like in practice
  • How to create spaces where people feel safe, respected, and understood
  • How to respond appropriately, without fear of “saying the wrong thing”

You don’t need to be a safeguarding expert — you just need to care about the people you coach.

Delivered by The Stay Safe Global Charitable Trust

The session will be led by Nicholas Martin, CEO of The Stay Safe Global Charitable Trust — a UK-based charity focused on providing free trauma-informed training and resources to those working in sport, education, and the wider community.

Nick brings more than 20 years of experience in coaching, inclusion, and safeguarding, including:

  • Direct experience working across London refuges
  • Delivering training to organisations like Google, Infosys and Salesforce
  • Supporting coaches to navigate misogyny, online harm, and toxic cultures
  • Equipping individuals to act with empathy, confidence, and accountability

At SSGCT, our mission is to equip coaches and educators with the knowledge and tools they need to support safer, healthier environments - and to do so with compassion, skill, and clarity.

Why Coaches Should Attend

  • You want to better understand the hidden challenges your athletes or participants might be facing
  • You want to feel confident responding if someone discloses abuse
  • You want to create a culture of safety, respect, and inclusion in your sessions
  • You’re committed to being a coach people can trust

This is real-world training, grounded in lived experience and built to support you — no matter where or who you coach.
